Manual Configuration

Configure your device to capture data

Within the Ardexa Web App, the following section describes each of the utility tabs under the selected Device's[CONFIGURATION] tab:

MENU: > [DEVICES] > (select device) > [CONFIGURATION]

Configuration sets up those functions that are generally ongoing jobs you want the device to execute.

GENERAL

MENU: [DEVICES] > [CONFIGURATION] > [GENERAL] tab

The default tab provided when you first arrive on the selected Device's [CONFIGURATION] component tab.

This view provides the identifiers for your device plus some administrative options:

  • Enable/disable SFTP

  • Restart the agent

SCENARIOS

MENU: [DEVICES] > [CONFIGURATION] > [SCENARIOS] tab

This tab features different scenarios that reflect the underlying structure of the device metadata. Scenario types include: Run, Capture, Watch, Unix socket, External, Dynamic Run, and Dynamic Capture.

  • The Run type allows you to execute commands against your device.

  • The Capture type captures the mappings from your infrastructure source to the definitions in the Ardexa Device. Essentially anything that appears in a log/text file.

  • The Watch type is largely used for ongoing photo capture. However, it can also be used for other telemetry purposes.

  • The Unix socket type is like capture, but does not write to the disk, instead it generates a stream that writes to a socket. Further information on UNIX sockets is provided here

  • The External type is for Ardexa admin purposes. When we capture data on-behalf of the agent, for example a data source from a cloud service to allow data to be associated with cloud sourced data.

  • The Dynamic Run and Dynamic Capture types describe all of the Machine Plugin scenarios (Dynamic Run and Dynamic Tail) that the Ardexa agent is aware of on the device. These scenarios are read-only. See Dynamic Configuration for more information.

RAW

MENU: [DEVICES] > [CONFIGURATION] > [RAW] tab
